Thank you for your interests in volunteering with One Talent, Inc. (“One Talent”). One Talent is a nonprofit organization that provides educational, mentoring, workforce development, wellness, cultural, technology, and community-based programs and activities for children, youth, young adults, and families.
By signing this Volunteer Waiver, Release & Acknowledgment (“Agreement”), I acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Volunteer Activities
I understand that my volunteer service may include participating in One Talent programs, events, workshops, community activities, meetings, service projects, educational activities, outreach activities, and other duties assigned or approved by One Talent (collectively, the “Volunteer Activities”).
Volunteer Activities may take place at One Talent facilities, partner facilities, schools, community locations, outdoor locations, event venues, or other locations designated by One Talent.
I understand that volunteer service is unpaid unless a specific written agreement provides otherwise.
2. Acknowledgment of Responsibilities
I agree to conduct myself in a professional, respectful, and responsible manner while representing or volunteering with One Talent.
I agree to follow all applicable One Talent policies, procedures, safety requirements, volunteer expectations, Code of Conduct, confidentiality requirements, and reasonable instructions provided by One Talent staff or authorized representatives.
I understand that One Talent may end my volunteer service at any time if I fail to comply with applicable policies, procedures, safety requirements, or expectations, or if my conduct is inconsistent with the organization's mission or the safety and well-being of participants, volunteers, staff, or others.
3. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in volunteer activities may involve ordinary and reasonably foreseeable risks associated with community events, travel to and from volunteer locations, outdoor activities, physical activities, use of equipment, interaction with members of the public, and other volunteer responsibilities.
I voluntarily choose to participate in Volunteer Activities and agree to exercise reasonable care for my own safety and the safety of others.
I understand that One Talent does not guarantee that Volunteer Activities will be free from all risks, injuries, illnesses, property damage, or other incidents.
4. Release and Waiver of Claims
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Georgia law, I release and discharge One Talent, Inc., and its directors, officers, employees, agents, authorized representatives, and volunteers (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from claims for bodily injury, illness, property damage, or other personal loss arising from my participation in Volunteer Activities, except to the extent such release is prohibited by applicable law.
This release is intended to apply only to claims that may legally be released under Georgia law.
Nothing in this Agreement is intended to release or waive any claim that cannot legally be waived or released under applicable law.
5. Medical Care and Emergency Assistance
If I experience an illness, injury, or medical emergency while participating in Volunteer Activities, I authorize One Talent staff or authorized representatives to seek reasonable emergency assistance on my behalf when appropriate.
I understand that One Talent is not responsible for providing medical treatment and that I am responsible for my own medical expenses and insurance coverage unless otherwise required by law.
6. Health and Safety
I agree not to participate in Volunteer Activities when I am aware that doing so would create a significant health or safety concern for myself or others.
I agree to follow reasonable health and safety procedures established by One Talent, the host facility, event venue, school, community partner, or applicable governmental authority.
7. Transportation
Unless separately agreed to in writing, I understand that One Talent does not provide transportation to or from volunteer activities.
If transportation is provided or coordinated for a specific activity, I understand that additional requirements, permissions, or documentation may apply.
8. Youth Protection and Professional Conduct
Because One Talent serves children, teens, and young adults, I understand that volunteers may be required to follow additional youth-protection, supervision, communication, confidentiality, and safety procedures.
I agree to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with program participants and to comply with all One Talent policies regarding interactions with children and youth.
Depending on the volunteer role, One Talent may require additional screening, background checks, references, training, or other documentation before or during volunteer service.
9. Confidentiality
I understand that, through my volunteer service, I may have access to confidential or private information concerning One Talent, its participants, families, volunteers, staff, donors, partners, or programs.
I agree not to disclose, share, photograph, copy, publish, or otherwise use confidential information except as authorized by One Talent or required by law.
This obligation continues after my volunteer service ends.
10. Media Release
I understand that photographs, video recordings, or audio recordings may be taken during One Talent events and activities.
By signing this Agreement, I grant One Talent permission to use my image, likeness, voice, or participation in photographs, video, or audio recordings created in connection with One Talent activities for legitimate organizational purposes, including educational, promotional, fundraising, social media, website, public relations, and community outreach materials, without compensation.
I understand that I may request clarification regarding how media will be used.
11. Personal Property
I understand that I am responsible for my personal belongings while participating in Volunteer Activities.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, One Talent is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property brought to volunteer activities.
12. Volunteer Expenses
I understand that I am responsible for my own volunteer-related expenses unless One Talent has expressly approved reimbursement in advance.
Any reimbursement must comply with One Talent's applicable policies and procedures.
13. No Guarantee of Volunteer Placement
I understand that submitting a volunteer application or signing this Agreement does not guarantee acceptance, placement, scheduling, or continued volunteer service with One Talent.
Volunteer opportunities are based on organizational needs, qualifications, availability, program requirements, screening requirements, and other applicable considerations.
14. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is determined to be invalid, unenforceable, or prohibited by applicable law, that provision will be interpreted or limited to the extent necessary to make it enforceable, where legally permitted. The remaining provisions will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
16. Acknowledgment and Voluntary Agreement
I confirm that I have read this Volunteer Waiver, Release & Acknowledgment and understand its contents.
I understand that this Agreement contains provisions concerning assumption of risk and the release of certain claims to the extent permitted by law.
I have had an opportunity to ask questions about this Agreement before signing it.
By signing below, I voluntarily agree to the terms of this Agreement.
